ATP Finals: Everything you need to know about the event

The ATP Finals begin in Turin and Sportish presents you with all the data about the big meeting of the eight best tennis players of the year.

For another year, Stefanos Tsitsipas will be one of the eight best tennis players in the world and will compete in the ATP Finals in Turin.

The Greek tennis player is expected to compete normally despite his injury problem and go as far as possible in the tournament.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is expected to be in the same group with Novak Djokovic, Yannick Sinner and Holger Rooney, while in the other group are Carlos Alkarath, Daniil Medvedev, Andrei Rublev and Alexander Zverev.

The two groups

Green group

  • Novak Djokovic
  • Yannick Siner
  • Stefanos Tsitsipas
  • Holger Rune

Red group

  • Carlos Alcarath
  • Daniil Medvedev
  • Andrei Rublev
  • Alexander Zverev

This is how they qualify

Of the two groups formed, the top two in each group qualify for the semi-finals. In fact, the couples will also perform depending on the positions they will take.

This means that the first from the first group meets the second from the second and the first from the second group meets the second from the first group.

The data in a draw

But what if there is a draw? If there is a draw after the three games that the athletes play, certain criteria apply.

In the event of a double tie, the game between them counts first. In the event of a three-way tie, the following counts: a) better rate of sets won, b) better rate of games won, c) better placement in the ATP ranking.

The prize money

In total, the organizers are distributing around 15 million euros to singles and doubles. Athletes who take part in all three Games will leave Turin with a profit of 345,380 euros, regardless of their performance in these Games.

From then on, every win in the group stage means 413,819 euros for the winner. Victory in the quarterfinals brings another €1,172,488 to the winner’s account.

The winnings of the trophy correspond to an amount of 2,335,427 euros. If an athlete manages to win the trophy without defeat, they will leave Turin 5 million euros richer.

The points in the world rankings

Tennis players can collect a lot of points in this tournament. The big winner will receive 1,500 points if they manage to win the title undefeated.

From there it all depends on the athletes’ progress. Each win in the group phase means 200 points, which corresponds to a maximum of 600 points from the group phase.

Winning in the semi-finals adds another 400 points. This means that if someone wins two groups and qualifies for the final, they will receive 800 points.

Winning the trophy comes with 500 points, which are added to the previous winners, with the upper limit being 1500 points.

Adelaide tournament Victoria Mboko advances to final

Victoria Mboko did not last long on the field in the semi-final of the Adelaide tournament, Friday in Australia.

The 19-year-old Canadian defeated local favorite Kimberly Birrell in just 59 minutes of play, 6-2, 6-1.

Mboko, 17e player in the world, slammed eight aces against none for her opponent, 107e world racket.

In the final, the Torontonian will face the winner of the other semi-final, which pits Russian Mirra Andreeva, third seed, against her compatriot Diana Schnaider.

The duel was short-lived, since Mboko was never broken and she only offered a break point to her opponent, who was unable to take advantage of it.
