President of the Russian Tennis Federation Shamil Tarpishchev assessed the performance of Russians Daniil Medvedev and Andrey Rublev in the ATP Final Tournament match.
Medvedev beat Rublev in the group stage match of the ATP Final Tournament in Turin. The meeting of the Red group lasted 1 hour 31 minutes and ended with a score of 6:4, 6:2.
— Andrey was too hot in the match with Daniil. The tactic was this: to make sure that Medvedev did not have time. But this tactic did not work, and Rublev simply did not have the patience for anything else. Andrei understood that it was necessary to deprive Daniil of time, but the reality was that Medvedev played more competently tactically. Rublev wanted to “strangle” Medvedev, and Daniil played on Andrei’s weaknesses. Rublev knew what he wanted, but the execution was not the best. There was aggressiveness, but it was not entirely reasonable,” Tarpischev told Match TV.
