Former world number nine Andrei Chesnokov believes that this season has become the best in his career for Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev.
On Wednesday, the fifth racket of the world Rublev with a score of 5:7, 2:6 lost to the second number of the world ranking, Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz, in the group stage match of the final ATP tournament in Turin and lost his chances of reaching the playoffs.
— This was Rublev’s best season in his career. He won the Masters series tournament for the first time and had very good results. Now Andrey is in fifth place. With the score 5:4 in the first set with Alcaraz, Andrey for some reason fell apart on his opponent’s serve. It seems that he gave his all and went on vacation. He started making a lot of mistakes. But it was an amazing season for Rublev. It’s an unfortunate defeat to Alcaraz, but Rublev should be happy with what he did this year,” Chesnokov is quoted as saying by “Championship.”
Rublev had previously lost to compatriot Daniil Medvedev in two networks. Earlier this season, the 26-year-old Russian won two ATP tournaments.
The 2023 ATP Finals takes place from November 12 to 19. The winner could earn more than $4.8 million. Last year the tournament was won by Serbian Novak Djokovic.
