Sinner becomes the first player in history to beat Djokovic twice in one day
On November 25, the semi-final match of the Davis Cup 2023 final section was played between the national teams of Italy and Serbia.
Italians won from Serbia with a score of 2:1. In the first match, Lorenzo Musetti lost to Miomir Kecmanovic in the second match. Jannik Sinner Saved with three match points and closed Novak Djokovicand in doubles, Sinner/Sonego duo beat Djokovic/Kecmanovic duo.
Jannik Sinner, ranked fourth in the ATP rankings, became the first player in history to beat Novak Djokovic twice in one day.
Sinner also became the second tennis player to beat Novak twice in the same tournament. In 2008, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga beat Nole in the singles in the final of the ATP tournament in Bangkok and, together with Fabrice Santoro, overtook Novak and his brother Marko at the start of the doubles tournament.
It is also worth noting that Djokovic lost a match in which he had match points for only the fourth time in his career (Mikhail Youzhny in Rotterdam 2008 (3 match points), Rafael Nadal in Madrid 2009 (1 match point), Marin Cilic in London 2018 ( 1 match point) to Jannik Sinner (3 match points) in Davis Cup 2023).
