FTU handed over the management of the women’s tennis team to the Elina Svitolina Foundation

The Ukrainian Tennis Federation (TFU) announced that the management of the Ukrainian women’s tennis team competing in the Billie Jean King Cup has been transferred to the Elina Svitolina Foundation for the next four years (2024-2027).

“This historic step underlines FTU’s desire to join forces with the Elina Svitolina Foundation to ensure a balanced approach to the development of women’s tennis in Ukraine. In a statement, FTU said that Ukraine’s most successful tennis player, Elina Svitolina, will be instrumental in shaping the strategy and leading the team.” He said that he will actively participate in the preparation of competition standards.

FTU President Sergei Lagur expressed his confidence in the successful cooperation and expressed his gratitude to Elina Svitolina for her commitment to the development of Ukrainian tennis: “The transfer of the management of the national team is a step towards our goal of developing and popularizing Ukrainian tennis. We hope that such collaboration will improve our team’s results.”

Thanking for the trust, Elina Svitolina emphasized that women’s tennis in Ukraine really has great hopes: “Today, six Ukrainian athletes are among the 100 most successful tennis players in the world. The national team, under the management of the foundation’s professional team, also manages to show high results in the Billie Jean King Cup, the women’s world tennis team championship. “We have every chance to bring the World Cup to Ukraine.”

The Ukrainian team, which previously beat the Netherlands in the Billie Jean King Cup Play-off round, will fight for the right to play against the Romanian team in the last part of the tournament next year.

It should be noted that there has been a conflict between Ukrainian tennis players and FTU for several years.
