Kostyuk and Kalinina told how they coped with jet lag

Ukrainian tennis players Marta Kostyuk and Angelina Kalinina told WTA Insider how they coped with jet lag throughout the season.

Marta Kostyuk: “No matter how tired you feel, for example if it’s jet lag, the kind where you can’t get out of bed in the morning, wake up when you usually do and go straight to your workout. You will activate your hormones that will wake you up and keep you awake until the evening.

Another tip: If you can’t sleep in the evening, eat early so your body feels more tired before bed and you can sleep through the night. Otherwise, you will digest food in the middle of the night and not fully recover. So if you want to go to bed at 9, eat at 4.”

Angelina Kalinina: “I have no secret other than melatonin. It helps for the first three days, then I can sleep on my own. Also try to sleep at the same time every day. It won’t work if there are skips. “I try to go to bed at 9 o’clock and after three or four days I can get into a rhythm.”
