The famous Belarusian tennis player and Olympic champion Maxim Mirny has been diagnosed with a malignant tumor, Smartpress.by reports, citing “informed sources.”
Mirny went to the doctors complaining of headaches a little over a month ago. An MRI confirmed the serious diagnosis. A 46-year-old man underwent craniotomy and the tumor was removed in one of the Minsk hospitals.
“The operation lasted 8 hours and was very successful,” the source noted.
Mirny won the 2012 London Olympics in mixed doubles and has six Grand Slam titles in doubles. He retired from his career in the fall of 2018.
