“Zvonareva is a plowman, her training is at an exorbitant level” – Vesnina

Rio 2016 Olympic champion in doubles Elena Vesnina noted the high intensity of Vera Zvonareva’s training work.

39-year-old Zvonareva, paired with German tennis player Laura Siegemund in the 2023 season, won the Final Tournament, WTA 500 category competitions in Washington, as well as WTA 250 tournaments in Chinese Ningbo and Nanchang.

– Vera is generally a great fellow – she is a plowman, I don’t even know a tennis player who would perform such large volumes of work to the limit, one might even say, to self-destruction. The way Vera trains is the way even many singles professionals don’t train. For her, this is at some transcendental level.

From the outside it seems that she cannot stop and plays a lot of tournaments in a row. But she loves it, she feels happy on the court, she wins. And I see that she has improved a lot and has become, it seems to me, even better at playing couples than before,” Vesnina is quoted as saying by “Championship.”

Zvonareva is ranked 272nd in the WTA rankings in singles and ninth in doubles.
