Russian tennis player Elena Vesnina said that the upcoming season will be the last in her career.
Earlier, 37-year-old Vesnina announced that she would return to the court in 2024.
— The Australian Open is the only Grand Slam tournament that you haven’t won in doubles. Do you want to play on it in 2025 and try to collect the “Career Helmet”?
– That would be, of course, very cool. And if it doesn’t work out, then continue playing until 2053 (laughs). Seriously, I don’t have an open gestalt in the form of a “Career Helmet”. I have already decided for sure that this season will be the final, “last dance” for me. In any case, I will end the season and career on a positive note, because my journey in tennis has been quite long, and I still want to say the last word. There is desire, motivation, and strength,” Vesnina told Sport24.
Vesnina is an Olympic champion and three-time winner of Grand Slam tournaments in doubles.
