The Pole had to pay dearly for his trick in the match with Medvedev

The tennis player’s unrestrained behavior received well-deserved praise from Australian Open officials.

The emotions of the players on the court add entertainment to the matches, but at the same time, sometimes this results in unpleasant consequences.

Daniil Medvedev’s Australian Open quarter-final opponent Hubert Hurkacz received a fine for his disgusting behavior, ruining his reputation as a good guy.

“I applaud him”

Medvedev has never been a good boy on the tennis court. He often had conflict situations with match participants, fans and spectators. Everyone has long been accustomed to this. But Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz, with whom the Russian played in Melbourne, usually behaves like a gentleman not only on the court, but also off it.

The Pole started the new season very well. For the first time in his career, Hubert made it to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. This will take him to eighth in the ATP rankings next week. An athlete has never climbed so high before.

It was Daniil who stopped the Pole’s victorious march in Melbourne. In the quarter-final match, the athletes staged a four-hour battle for five sets. Our tennis player emerged victorious from this confrontation. After the game, Hubert even praised the Russian, which is something you rarely hear from Polish representatives in modern conditions.

— It was a very intense match, Daniil played fantastically. Victory was close, but this is sport. I applaud him,” the PolskieRadio24.pl website quotes Hurkacz as saying.

Hundreds of thousands for words

But during the match, Hubert was not so friendly. At unlucky moments, the tennis player lost control of himself, allowing his emotions to break out. He repeatedly threw his racket onto the court.

Once she flew over the net and just missed Medvedev’s foot, fortunately the Russian reacted to it normally. But even this did not calm the Pole. After another lost game, he started a showdown with equipment on the bench, for which he received a warning from the referee.

Also, the 26-year-old athlete did not particularly watch his language in lost rallies. He often used obscene language. The organizers of the Australian Open could not ignore such disgusting behavior. On January 27, it became known that the Pole was fined a substantial fine of $7,600 (676.4 thousand rubles) for his unrestrained behavior.

The athlete drew the right conclusions from this situation. He recently announced on social media that he was donating iconic racquets from his personal collection to a charity auction.
