Daniil Medvedev: “I hope I can be both a good tennis player and a good father”
Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, after losing to Italian Jannik Sinner in the final of the Australian Open, said that he would try to successfully combine his playing career with his role as a father.
On Sunday, Medvedev lost to Sinner in the Australian Open final with a score of 6:3, 6:3, 4:6, 4:6, 3:6.
— Novak Djokovic said that fatherhood was a very important element of his growth as a person and a player. I think this is very important for you too. Could you share the emotions that arise from this and make Daniil Medvedev a different player and person?
– Yes, I always say: I don’t know if this has made me a different player or a different person, but I hope so, because this is an important step in life. It’s an amazing experience from the very beginning until you die.
What more can I say? I hope that my children and wife can be proud of me. I think this tournament is suitable for that.
Tennis and parenting are two different stories. You can be a good player and a bad parent, or vice versa. I hope that I can be both a good parent and a good tennis player,” Medvedev said at a press conference.
Medvedev and his wife Daria are raising a daughter, Alisa, who was born in the fall of 2022.
