Russian tennis player Lyudmila Samsonova made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament in Abu Dhabi.

The Russian, seeded eighth, beat Ukrainian Angelina Kalinina in the second round match with a score of 6:1, 6:3. The tennis players spent 1 hour and 8 minutes on the court.

Russian number one Daniil Medvedev will play against Dutchman Jesper de Jong in the first round of the Australian Open.

The draw for the tournament took place on Thursday in Melbourne. Medvedev is seeded 11th at the tournament.

Andrey Rublev (13th seed) will meet with Italian Matteo Arnaldi in the first round; Karen Khachanov’s opponent (15th) will be Alex Mickelsen from the USA.
