President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) Shamil Tarpishchev expressed the opinion that Anna Kalinskaya could enter the top 10 of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings by the end of 2024.

On Saturday, Kalinskaya lost to Italian Jasmine Paolini in the final of the tournament in Dubai (6:4, 5:7, 5:7). In the third set, the Russian woman led with a score of 5:4. The meeting lasted 2 hours 16 minutes.

— Kalinskaya can be congratulated. Anna has been an interesting player all her life. The way Anya played with Szwiatek, she could have played like that when she was 20 years old. But a series of injuries prevented this opportunity. Nature gifted her with a good tennis mind. She feels the ball well, plays very intelligently and tactically – this is a big plus. Maybe earlier there was a little bit of quality missing, when you have to play through I can’t, as it should have been initially: I must, I must, I must. She lost a lot due to her injuries.

I believe that she is definitely in the top ten in terms of intelligence and playing qualities. Having gotten rid of injuries, she found herself and plays some of her best tennis. I think that at the end of the year she may well be in the top ten,” Championship quoted Tarpishchev as saying.

Kalinskaya is 25 years old; in the updated version of the WTA rankings, the Russian woman will rise from 40th to 24th place.
