“Simply finished!” The Americans drove Medvedev to a nervous breakdown

The Masters final in the American Indian Wells with the participation of Russian Daniil Medvedev and Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz could have been a celebration of tennis, but it ended in an unpleasant story. The prejudiced attitude of the fans brought our player out of moral balance.

For the second year in a row, Medvedev reached the decisive Masters match in Indian Wells. Our player’s opponent in the final of the American tournament was Alcaraz again. In last year’s confrontation between these tennis players, the fight did not work out: the young Spaniard defeated Daniil in two sets, spending a little over an hour to win.

The start of the rematch aroused hope for a successful outcome in the hearts of the fans of the Russian tennis player. Daniil made a break on Alcaraz’s first serve. He then took back two of his games to take a 3-0 lead.

Unfortunately, it was not possible to consolidate the success. In the fifth game, the Spaniard made a reverse break. Then the tennis players acted reliably, scoring points on their serves. The fate of the set was decided in a tiebreaker. The missed advantage greatly upset the Russian. Out of emotion, he even spoke unflatteringly about tennis.

“Such a shitty sport,” Medvedev said with the score 4:2 in the tiebreaker.

Emotions once again played a cruel joke on the Russian. He never managed to gather himself, allowing his opponent to take the first game – 7:6 (5).

Fan pressure

In the second set the fight didn’t work out at all. Danya already gave away the first game on his serve. Alcaraz was simply unstoppable at the beginning of the game. The Spaniard was also helped by the public, who frantically supported Carlos with every successful play.

But the fans rejoiced not only at Carlos’ success, but also applauded every unsuccessful action of our player. In the third game, another round of applause after Medvedev’s mistake led to the Russian breaking down. He launched into an angry tirade in Russian using obscene language.

– Just complete ****** (fools), ***** (idiots). I serve a double, they ***** ***** (rejoice), and when he serves a double, they ***** (also rejoice). Complete ******s (fools), Medvedev said in his hearts.

With such an attitude it is difficult to count on success, so the Russian was unable to impose a fight. During the entire second game, Medvedev took only one game, losing with a score of 1:6.

– It’s hard. It’s difficult to play in such an environment. To be honest, I felt a little out of place in the second set. This is not easy, because you need to try to achieve more,” the official ATP website quotes Medvedev as saying.

The Russian also lacked the support of his loved ones. Daniil jokingly said after the match that his wife and daughter were on the plane, so they could not give him the strength to win.

There is no point in belittling Alcaraz’s merits in this match; he played well. But if the crowd had not behaved so disgustingly, and had supported the tennis players equally, then the fight would have definitely been more exciting.
