Austrian tennis player Dominic Thiem announced his retirement at the end of this season.

In 2020, Tim won the US Open; the 30-year-old tennis player is currently ranked 117th in the ATP rankings.

— This season will be my last; I will retire at the end of the season. There are several reasons for this: the first is problems with my wrist, the second is my inner feeling. I’ve been thinking about this decision for a long time. My tennis journey has been incredible. I achieved success and trophies that I never dreamed of.

My journey has been full of ups and downs, it has been an incredible experience for which I am very grateful. I came to the conclusion that the decision to end my career was the only right one. “I’m very happy and looking forward to the next stage in life,” Tim said in a statement posted on social networks.

During his career, the Austrian won 17 ATP tournaments in singles, and in 2020 he was in third place in the world rankings. Tim also reached the finals at Roland Garros twice and at the Australian Open once.
