Carlos Alcaraz defeated Alexander Zverev in five sets in the Roland Garros final

Spanish tennis player Carlos Alcaraz won the French Open for the first time in his career.

Alcaraz, who received the third seed, beat German Alexander Zverev (4) in the final with a score of 6:3, 2:6, 5:7, 6:1, 6:2. The meeting lasted 4 hours and 19 minutes.

For 21-year-old Alcaraz, this is the third trophy at a Grand Slam tournament; he previously won the US Open and Wimbledon. The Spaniard became the youngest player to win Grand Slam titles on all three surfaces.

Olympic champion Zverev has lost both Grand Slam finals, losing to Austrian Dominic Thiem in the 2020 US Open final.

Alcaraz earned 2.4 million euros for winning Roland Garros, Zverev will receive 1.2 million.
