Kalinskaya advances to WTA Berlin semifinals after Sabalenka withdraws

Russian Anna Kalinskaya has reached the semi-finals of the WTA 500 tennis tournament in Berlin.
In the quarterfinals, Kalinskaya faced world number three Aryna Sabalenka. The Belarusian, seeded second in the tournament, was unable to finish the match and withdrew at 1:5 in the first set due to a shoulder injury.
Earlier, Kalinskaya advanced to the quarterfinals after Czech Marketa Vondrousova withdrew after she injured her hip after slipping on the grass during the match.
The Russian’s opponent in the semi-finals will be another representative of Belarus, Victoria Azarenka.
