Polish tennis player Hubert Hurkacz ended his performance at the Wimbledon tournament in Great Britain at the second round stage.

The seventh number in the ATP rankings met Frenchman Arthur Fils in the second round. In one of the ties during the tie-break in the fourth set, Hurkacz won a point with a jump, but then could not continue the game due to a knee injury. The match ended with the Pole’s withdrawal with the score 6:7 (2:7), 4:6, 6:2, 6:6 (8:9).

Phils will face the winner of the match between Tomas Machac (Czech Republic) and Roman Safiullin (Russia) in the next round of Wimbledon.

Along the way, Smith passed Laura Pigossi (WTA 200), Jannik Sinner (ATP 2), Amanda Anisimova (WTA 4), Pedro Martinez (ATP 71) and Joanna Garland (WTA 117).

Jordan earned one million Australian dollars (US$668,000) by winning the One Point Slam.

One Point Slam is an exhibition tournament where matches consist of one point. The right to serve was determined using a game of rock, paper, scissors without a second ball. Meanwhile, Sinner could not put the ball into play against Jordan.

Ukrainian tennis players did not participate in the One Point Slam. Carlos Alcaraz, the leader in the world rankings, lost to Maria Sakkari in the third round.

Australian Open Marina Stakusic advances to third round of qualifying

(Melbourne) Marina Stakusic reached the finals of the Australian Open qualifiers on Wednesday, easily winning 6-0, 6-2 against Serbian Teodora Kostovic.

Stakušić (127^e), who defeated the Spaniard Nuria Parrizas-Diaz (261^e) in the first round, will face in the third round the Chinese Lin Zhu (163^e), who beat the Andorran Victoria Jimenez Kasintseva (114^e) 6-1 and 6-2. Jimenez Kasintseva had eliminated the Canadian Kayla Cross (198^e) in the first round.

Taking advantage of the troubles in the service of Kostovic (176^e), who was broken six times in seven games with balls in hand, Stakusic ended the match in 67 minutes. Kostovic won only 18% of the points with his second ball.

Stakusic hit 12 winners, while Kostavic made 25 unforced errors.

Later, Carson Branstine (179^e) was forced to retire against the Ukrainian Daria Snigur (136^e), while the latter led 6-4 and 4-2.

Liam Draxl (145^e) was also in action on Wednesday in Melbourne. He crossed swords with the Ukrainian Vitaliy Sachko (166^e).

The tournament organizers also announced the seeds before the day’s matches. Unsurprisingly, world number ones Carlos Alcaraz and Aryna Sabalenka are the favorites.

Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime and his compatriot Denis Shapovalov are respectively seventh and 21st^e seeded among the men, while Victoria Mboko and Leylah Fernandez are 17^e and 22^e.

The main draw singles competitions will begin on Sunday.

Snigur reaches Australian Open 2026 qualifying final ahead of schedule

Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur (WTA 136) reached the final qualifiers at the 2026 Australian Open.

Ukrainians passed the second round of the election Carson Brenstein (Canada, WTA 179). Carson could not finish the match by giving up the fight in the middle of the second set.

Australian Open 2026. Qualification

Brenstein withdrew due to problems with his right shoulder. Daria had her first head-to-head encounter with Carson.

Snigur started the Australian Open qualifying round by defeating Katarzyna Kawa. In the final qualifying round, Daria will compete with eighth-placed Alexandra Sasnovich.

Snigur became the third Ukrainian to make it to the finals in the AO-2026 qualifier. Previously, this was done by Yulia Starodubtseva and Angelina Kalinina.

Snigur competed in the Australian Major qualifiers for the third year in a row. Qualified for the main draw in 2024 and 2025.
