Russian tennis player Natalia Vikhlyantseva said that she believes in the victory of 17-year-old Mirra Andreeva at the Olympic Games in Paris.

At the end of 2023, Andreeva was named Rookie of the Year on the WTA Tour. In April 2024, the Russian broke the WTA record by winning seven WTA 1000 tournaments at the age of 17. In 2024, the athlete became a semi-finalist at Roland Garros. Andreeva will play in the Olympic Games in the summer. Russian Tennis Federation (RTF) President Shamil Tarpishchev previously told Match TV that Andreeva and Daniil Medvedev would likely form a mixed doubles team at the Games.

— Mirra is performing very well, she is surrounded by a great team. We hope that she will win a gold medal in a pair with Dania Medvedev, because I am not sure that she will be able to enter the top three in the individual category. Of course, we will believe in Mirra, but she will have very strong rivals, — Vikhlyantseva told Metaratings.ru.

As of early July, Andreeva is ranked 23rd in the WTA rankings. She has already earned more than two million dollars in her career.

The Olympic tennis tournament will take place from July 27 to August 4.
