Djokovic beats Alcaraz in 2024 Games final to win first Olympic gold

Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic won the gold medal in singles at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.

In the final, the 37-year-old Serb, who received the first seed, beat the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz (2) in two sets. The match lasted about three hours, with both games ending in Djokovic’s favor in tie-breaks.

Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam singles champion and holds the record for the most weeks at number one in the ATP rankings. The Games in the French capital were his fifth in his career, and the Serb won Olympic gold for the first time. Earlier, in 2008, at the Beijing Olympics, the Serb won bronze in singles.
