Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov called Serbian Novak Djokovic the best player in the history of tennis.

On August 4, 37-year-old Djokovic defeated Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz in the Olympic tournament final (7:6 (7:3), 7:6 (7:2). The Serb became the fifth tennis player in history to win Olympic gold and all Grand Slam titles.

— I can’t say that the Olympics put an end to the dispute, since the greatness of a tennis player is most often judged by victories in Grand Slam tournaments. But Djokovic, in any case, has broken almost all records, at least the significant ones. Of course, there are still people who consider Roger Federer more outstanding. The Serb is sometimes not very diplomatic, and it’s easy not to like him, let’s say. But Federer is an unblemished character, and many people like him for this. Of course, he made a huge contribution to the development of tennis, not only as a player, but also as a person.

However, if we rely on the results shown by Djokovic, he is currently the best player in the history of tennis. In addition, we cannot help but pay tribute to the way he was able to extend his career. In terms of work capacity, the Serb, of course, surpasses Roger. The Swiss was incredibly talented and, of course, also worked hard, but I am sure he still had some room for improvement. And Novak really squeezed the maximum out of himself, RT quotes Tursunov as saying.

Djokovic is a 24-time Grand Slam singles champion and holds the record for the most weeks at number one in the ATP rankings.
