Honored Master of Sports of Russia Andrey Chesnokov believes that Russian tennis player Andrey Rublev won a hard-fought victory over Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech in the second round of the US Open.

The match took place on Wednesday and ended with Rublev winning with a score of 4:6, 5:7, 6:1, 6:2, 6:2. The tennis players spent 4 hours and 9 minutes on the court.

— Rinderknech played a five-set match before the match with Rublev. Of course, the Frenchman played the first two sets phenomenally. In the second set, Rublev tried to score more with one or two hits. When the Frenchman was leading with a break in the second set, Andrey started to play more through the rally. Rublev fed Rinderknech a full program in two sets — the Frenchman ran out of gas. A good, hard-earned victory for Rublev.

Andrey has passed a real test. He should play twice as well in the next match. I think he will be more stable and calm psychologically. The match with Rinderknech was harder than the next one will be, Chesnokov told “Championship”.

Rublev will play Czech Jiri Legecka in the third round of the US Open.
