Russian Daniil Medvedev still ranks fifth in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) rankings, a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.

Another representative of Russia, Andrey Rublev, retained sixth place. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: the Italian Jannik Sinner is in the lead, Alexander Zverev (Germany) is second, and the Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz closes the top three.

On September 22, Medvedev, Zverev and Alcaraz, as part of Team Europe, won the Laver Cup, an exhibition team tournament. The ATP does not award ranking points for winning this tournament, but takes it into account in the statistics of team competitions won.

22-year-old Russian Alibek Kachmazov, who reached the semi-finals of an ATP tournament for the first time on Sunday, rose 73 positions in the ranking and now ranks 179th. On Monday he will play Italian Lorenzo Musetti for a place in the final of the tournament in Chengdu, China.

Snigur reaches Australian Open 2026 qualifying final ahead of schedule

Ukrainian tennis player Daria Snigur (WTA 136) reached the final qualifiers at the 2026 Australian Open.

Ukrainians passed the second round of the election Carson Brenstein (Canada, WTA 179). Carson could not finish the match by giving up the fight in the middle of the second set.

Carson Brenstein (Canada) – Daria Snigur (Ukraine) – 4:6, 2:6

Brenstein withdrew due to problems with his right shoulder. Daria had her first head-to-head encounter with Carson.

Snigur started the Australian Open qualifying round by defeating Katarzyna Kawa. In the final qualifying round, Daria will compete with eighth-placed Alexandra Sasnovich.

Snigur became the third Ukrainian to make it to the finals in the AO-2026 qualifier. Previously, this was done by Yulia Starodubtseva and Angelina Kalinina.

Snigur competed in the Australian Major qualifiers for the third year in a row. Qualified for the main draw in 2024 and 2025.

Russian tennis player Diana Schneider reached the quarterfinals of the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide.

Ninth seeded Schneider won in the second round over Katerina Sinyakova from the Czech Republic in three sets – 6:1, 2:6, 7:5. The duration of the match was 1 hour 54 minutes.

In the quarterfinals, the Russian will play with the winner of the match Yulia Putintseva (Kazakhstan) – Emma Navarro (USA, 6).
