1995 Davis Cup finalist Andrei Chesnokov admitted that he was very surprised by the result of the meeting between Mirra Andreeva and her sister Erika Andreeva in the second round of the WTA 1000 series tournament in Wuhan (China).
The match ended with the victory of the eldest of the sisters, Erika Andreeva, with a score of 6:3, 6:1.
“I was simply stunned by the result.” Mirra led 3:1 at the beginning of the game and then managed to win just one game. Mirra is still very young, she still needs to mature. She has defeats where they are not expected from her at all. As another example, besides today, the Olympics. Serious victories are already expected from her; she was in the semi-finals of Roland Garros, beating Sabalenka. “I have no explanation for today’s result,” Chesnokov told RB Sport.
In the third round, Erika Andreeva will play with the third racket of the tournament, Jasmine Paolini from Italy.
