This season has been difficult for Russian tennis player Andrei Rublev both on and off the court. Thus, at the ATP tournament taking place in Sweden, a famous player revealed the secret of a mysterious story involving an emergency operation that threatened to end in the loss of an important organ.

“I needed surgery”

Rublev will definitely not be able to count 2024 as an asset. The athlete performs extremely unstable. Andrey is capable of giving a match of his life, or he may lose to players who are in the world rankings outside the top hundred. Of the major successes, one can only highlight the victory at the Masters in Madrid, and success in Hong Kong.

Rublev had much more sensational failures in matches where experts could not even imagine that the opponents would create at least some semblance of a fight. Suffice it to recall the defeats of modest Argentines from the second hundred, Thiago Tirante and Francisco Comesan, at two July tournaments.

By the US Open, Andrei seemed to have stabilized his game. He played quite well at the final Grand Slam tournament of the year, reaching the quarterfinals. But after that, Andrei had to face problems off the court. In early October, he admitted that he had undergone emergency surgery.

— After the US Open, I was preparing for China, and a couple of days before departure I needed surgery. “Anything could lead to amputation,” the tennis player admitted.

“I almost lost a testicle”

The operation was successful, Andrei even recovered ahead of schedule. Doctors predicted he would miss the Asian tournaments, but Rublev performed there, although without much success. At the same time, before the tournament in Stockholm, the Russian did not tell what problems he faced.

After his victory over the Frenchman Alexander Muller, Rublev was in a good mood and opened up to the press about the operation. It turned out that the tennis player could have serious problems with men’s health.

– I don’t know how to talk about this – funny or smart. I almost lost a testicle. Yes, I was very lucky because the doctors said that I had five or six hours. If problems with blood circulation had started, it could have been amputated.

For some reason, I agreed to go to the hospital and get checked because I felt strange. Doctors examined him and urgently sent him for surgery. So, from the moment of the first sensations to the operation, 3-4 hours passed,” the tennis player said at a press conference.

The athlete was put under anesthesia, and he gave voluntary written consent to amputate the testicle. It’s good that the doctors worked a miracle, and Andrei did not have to part with an organ that is important for any man. Now his health is not in danger.
