Kafelnikov believes that Daniil Medvedev has problems with motivation
Former world number one and Olympic champion Yevgeny Kafelnikov suggested that Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev is experiencing serious problems with motivation and is trying to solve them.
On Sunday, Medvedev lost to American Taylor Fritz at the start of the 2024 ATP Final Tournament – 4:6, 3:6.
— Maybe Medvedev should take a break and reboot?
— This happens individually for everyone. This is probably one of the options. There are probably motivational problems. It all depends on Daniel himself.
— Isn’t it alarming that the best tennis player in Russia ended up in such a psychological hole?
— This worries Daniel himself. He himself sees that the problem is serious and tries to get out of it. This is a normal situation that needs to be dealt with,” Kafelnikov told the Championship.
In the second match of the group stage, Medvedev will meet with Australian Alex De Minaur on November 12.
