Medvedev on the attention to Sinner at the ATP Finals: “I’m happy for him. I wonder how he would cope with this if he lived in Italy”

Russian Daniil Medvedev, who completed his performance at the ATP Final Tournament, spoke during a press conference about the great attention that journalists and fans pay to world number one Jannik Sinner during the competition. The tournament takes place in Turin.

— Italians are delighted with Sinner. Do you feel sorry for him? Do you think he was lucky? What do you think of the atmosphere that surrounds him here?

– Regret? Why? I’m happy for him. This is cool. But I would like to know how he would live in Italy with all this, because he does not live here. This simplifies the situation (smiles). And so, I think he deserves all this. He’s a nice guy, number one in the world, won a lot of trophies. Very young (23 years old), and people always like that. He may have 13-14 years of victories ahead of him! “I think he feels great,” ASAP Sports quotes Medvedev as saying.

Sinner spends most of the year traveling, competing in various tournaments.

In the final third round of the group round of the Final Tournament, Medvedev lost to Sinner in two sets – 3:6, 4:6. Medvedev was eliminated from the tournament, and Sinner reached the semi-finals. His opponent will be determined on Friday.
