Daniil Medvedev: “I think the balls will be changed at some point. Next season I’ll try to burn out less.”

Russian tennis player Daniil Medvedev, after leaving the ATP Final Tournament in Turin, spoke about his plans for the next season.

Medvedev is 28 years old and is in fourth place in the world rankings. For the first time since 2017, the Russian did not win a single title in the season. His best result was reaching the final of the Australian Open, where he lost to the world number one, Italian Jannik Sinner. Medvedev also played in the final of the Masters series tournament in Indian Wells, losing to Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz.

— You said that you suffered all year because of the balls. Don’t you feel like things will be better next year? It’s as if the match with Fritz freed up your entire head.

“I’ll definitely be fresh for the preseason.” I had an important meeting with Fritz, I was getting ready as usual. And now I’ve been released; for the last two matches I was thinking about next year. If it worked, it would be cool. I will try something new. I won’t go into details, but I think the balls will be changed at some point. I will set myself other goals next year in terms of moral goals. I’ll try to burn out less,” the Championship quotes Medvedev as saying.

Medvedev is the winner of the 2021 US Open. In total, the Russian has 20 titles at ATP tournaments.
