Selivanenko: “Medvedev played two matches at the Final Tournament at a decent level”
Vice-President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFF) Alexey Selivanenko assessed the game of Russian Daniil Medvedev at the ATP Final Tournament in Turin.
On Thursday, in the final third round of the group round of the Final Tournament, Medvedev lost to world number one Italian Jannik Sinner in two sets – 3:6, 4:6. Medvedev dropped out of the tournament; earlier in the group he lost to the American Taylor Fritz and defeated the Australian Alex de Minaur.
— If we don’t take into account the first match, where Daniil, by his own admission, looked mentally burnt out, then, in principle, he played the other two matches at a decent level. Does it matter who is better to start the tournament with and who to play the third match in the group with? The schedule is what it is, it is compiled according to a certain algorithm and is not a determining factor,” Selivanenko told RB Sport.
