Chesnokov: “Russian fans hoped that Medvedev or Rublev would reach the semi-finals of the Final Tournament”
Former tennis player Andrei Chesnokov noted that Russian fans were counting on Daniil Medvedev or Andrei Rublev reaching the semifinals of the ATP Final Tournament in Turin.
Medvedev and Rublev failed to make it past the group stage. The winner of the tournament was Italian Jannik Sinner.
— Russian fans hoped that one of the players would reach the semifinals. But this did not happen. The first match turned out to be key for Daniil, where he lost to Fritz. Medvedev’s second serve should have been more confident and stable. Making so many mistakes in a match like this is giving away gifts. This allowed Fritz to win.
Rublev had no chance in his first match at the Final Tournament. Sasha Zverev played very well! Now he could resist Sinner, because he had previously won the tournament in Bercy. “He plays simply amazing,” Chesnokov is quoted as saying by “Championship.”
