The drama of the stars of Russian tennis. One point was not enough for a cool achievement!

Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider lost in an incredibly stubborn struggle.

Diana Schneider and Mirra Andreeva have recently turned into the main Russian tennis duet. Young athletes fell in love with fans thanks to incredible dedication on the court, but she did not save from the offensive defeat in the semifinals of the prestigious tournament.

Successful duet of young Russians

The duet of the two main hopes of our country in Women’s Tennis Andreeva and Schneider the world first saw only seven months ago. The debut of promising athletes came to the Olympic Games in Paris, where success came to them immediately. They became the only ones who won medals for Russia.

Since then, the girls have played together in just three tournaments, but almost everywhere they reached the late stages. The beginning of 2025 turned out to be especially successful. Mirra and Diana began with victory in Brisben, after which they reached the semifinals at the Australian Open. To the WTA-1000 tournament in Doha, they were already both included in the top 40 of the world ranking in a paired category.

On the prestigious “thousand -man”, the Russians also succeeded. Only in the first match did they escort with rivals of more than two sets. The struggle of Andreeva and Schneider was imposed by Ashlin Krueger and Jessica Pegul. Already in the next round, they smashed the first seeded Erin Rutliff and Gabriela Dabrovski into one gate – 6: 2, 6: 1.

The Russians did not meet the much resistance of the Russians in the quarterfinal match with Anna Danilina and Irina Khromacheva. Mirra and Diana completely dominated the experienced duet, each of the participants of which is included in the top 20 pair rating. The incredible 86.7% of the winnings won on the first presentation helped Andreeva and Schneider to win with a score of 6: 4, 6: 1.

Drama in the semifinals

In the semifinals, the lot brought the Russians with the Italian duet Sarah Errani and Jasmine Paolini. Recently, this confrontation has become fundamental. At the Olympics, it was the Italians who left our girls without gold medals. In January, the Russians already took a convincing revenge on the Australian Open.

In the event of the victory, Schneider and Andreev could establish a steep personal achievement, for the first time in the final of the Party tournament of the WTA-1000 category. It seemed that this was facilitated by the beginning of the match, which turned out to be discouraging for Sarah and Jasmine. A convincing game allowed our tennis players to pick up three game in a row. Only after that the Italians managed to soak the score.

The fifth game at the presentation of Schneider was marked by the exact hit of Errani on Andreeva, who turned up under a powerful shift. But there was no evil intent in the actions of the Italian, she hardly reached the ball, immediately after that asking for forgiveness. This draw shook our girls who took Gam from the account of 15:30.

The ending of the first set forced the fans of the Russians a little nervous. With a score of 5: 3, our girls were presented to the match, but allowed the rivals to make a break. It is good that in recent years they have greatly added emotionally and have not broken psychologically, as it was at the same Olympics. Already in the next game, they made a reverse break, taking the first batch – 6: 4.

The second set began with Break Italian, and Mirra and Diana could not realize four gamboles on Andreeva’s submission. But already in the next game, the Russians looked much more convincing, taking him to zero. Not a single draw went to Italians in the third game. After that, the match was leveled for a while.

In the eighth game, our girls showed high composure with a score of 0:15 on the presentation of Italian. Jasmine saved a heavy ball, but did not believe that he would remain in the court, turning his back. When Paolini turned, it was too late, Schneider drove the ball into the corner of the court. This helped the Russians take the game and the story with a score of 5: 3.

Our tennis players did not succeed in submitting to the match. In a stubborn struggle with a number of fantastic draws, the ninth game went to Italians. At the same time, our girls recouped from 15:40, but lost in a decisive draw due to the annoying mistake of Diana, although they could calmly finish the match in their favor. The next game also remained with Italians.

The girls finished off to the Tay-Bray of the second batch, where the Italians completely dominated. They took six rally in a row, after which they allowed the Russians to play two points. As a result, the set ended with a score of 7: 6 (2).

According to the rules at WTA tournaments in paired matches, instead of the third set, a secret break is held to ten points. Here, our girls also had two matchballs, which, unfortunately, could not be implemented. But the Italians did this on the first attempt, defeating 11: 9.
