Medvedev gave an almost won match. And accused the judge of Russophobia

The Russian player began the season extremely unsuccessfully.

At the Dubai tournament, ATP 500 Daniil Medvedev confidently spoke exactly to the third match. Our tennis player defeated strong opponents from the TOP-50, fitting two sets with each, and hoped to continue the path to the long-awaited title. Danya did not win since May 2023 and, it seemed, it was time to finish the unpleasant series and rehabilitate for the failure of the season.

Unfortunately, Medvedev sensationally lost in the quarter -finals. The Russian did not realize as many as four matchballs and paid for the waste.

A missed chance

In a dramatic match, the representative of the Netherlands Tallon Grixpur turned out to be stronger. For the 47th racket of the world, Medvedev became the second Russian, with whom he had to share the court this week. In the first circle, Grixpur struggled Roman Safiullin with difficulty, twice reaching the tie-break. In the next fight, the Dutchman coped with the fifth seeded Ugl Umbar, but this still seemed not enough to compete with Medvedev.

Daniel was considered the favorite of the meeting and at first justified the status. The Russian won the first batch with a score of 6: 2. Our tennis player played perfectly on the back line and was almost not mistaken. The second set also formed in favor of Medvedev, it went to a calm victory, but she slipped in some inexplicably.

With a score of 5: 4 and 6: 5, the Russian had two matchballs, but both times Grixpur was heroically saved, and already intercepted the initiative on the Tai-Break. Separately, it should be noted that from the desperate position, Tallon was chosen thanks to the exits to the grid after serving. The risky style of the Dutchman’s play was fruit.

“What is it, double standards against Russians?”

After an annoyingly lost party, Medvedev also broke into the judge. The Russian received a warning for unsportsmanlike behavior and joined the offender with a very musk dialogue.

– For what? – asked Medvedev.

“You know what he told me,” the judge answered.

“You are too soft, right?” What is it, double standards against Russians? – Daniel became furious.

By the way, after the fight, in an interview, the Russian apologized for the charges, admitting that he frankly flared up. Therefore, of course, there was no hatred of the judge for excessive emotions.

Actually, in the third party, Danya looked quite restrained. The tennis players went to the nostril in the nostril, taking their feeds. The first break occurred only with a score of 6: 5 in favor of Tallon. Now the Netherlander went to the matchball four times and, unlike the opponent, achieved his own.

The offensive defeat in the duel, which could be completed in the second set, should hurt the player. But Medvedev worthyly reacted to the flight from the tournament.

-I believe that there were moments in which he, in a sense, was a little lucky, but this is tennis. Lucky the strongest, which means he was stronger today. I hope that the next time, if we meet somewhere, I will be lucky at some such moments and I can win, ”Medvedev quotes the“ championship ”.

There is really no time to get upset Daniel, because in less than a week he play on the Masters in Indian-Wells. I would like to believe that the Russian will leave all mistakes and failures in Dubai.
