The 50th racket of the world Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova continues to impress Wimbledon-2025. In the fourth round match, the Russian tennis player beat British Sonai Cartall (No. 51 in the WTA ranking) – 7: 6 (7: 3), 6: 4 – and made it to the quarterfinals of the London tournament. The game on the central court lasted 2 hours 2 minutes and became the first confrontation of two rivals.

How Pavlyuchenkova reached the fourth circle

The path of Anastasia to the quarter -final was not easy. At the start of the tournament, she coped with Aila Tomlyanovich in three sets (No. 79) – 4: 6, 6: 3, 6: 2. Then Ashley Krueger (No. 31) was confident – 7: 6 (7: 4), 6: 4, and in the third circle she won a strong -willed victory over Naomi Osaka (No. 53) – 3: 6, 6: 4, 6: 4. Prior to this match, Pavlyuchenkov and Cartall never played with each other. It is interesting that before the match they were in the ranking on neighboring lines: the Russian woman was the 50th, and the British was the 51st. Cartall played before the eyes of the domestic public, but Pavlyuchenkova quickly showed who controls the course of the meeting.

– This is incredible. I always thought that I was bad on the grass. It’s just amazing. Especially considering that I get older and return here every year. I am very proud of myself that I can compete with these young girls at this stage and at such a level. It is just incredible, ”Pavlyuchenkova said in an interview with the court.
