Putin awarded Andreeva and Schneider the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st class

Russian President Vladimir Putin awarded the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 1st degree, to Russian tennis players Mirra Andreeva and Diana Schneider, according to the decree of the head of state published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
As noted in the document, the tennis players were awarded “for their services to the development of physical culture and sports, and many years of conscientious work.”
Andreeva and Schneider won silver medals in doubles at the 2024 Olympics in Paris. This was the debut Games for the Russians.
Andreeva is 18 years old and ranks fifth in the Women’s Tennis Association rankings; 21-year-old Schneider is 19th.
