Venezuelan tennis player Goncalo Oliveira has been suspended for four years for violating anti-doping rules, according to the website of the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA).

The athlete’s doping test, which he took in November 2024 during the Challenger Series tournament in Manzanillo (Mexico), was found to contain methamphetamine. Oliveira tried to prove that the drug entered his body either through a kiss or through “pollution.” However, the independent tribunal ruled that the player had not provided “conclusive or concrete evidence” of either scenario.

Oliveira has been suspended from competition since January 2025. His period of disqualification will end on January 16, 2029.

Oliveira is 30 years old, born in Portugal, but represents Venezuela. His highest ranking in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is 194.
