Tarpishchev – about the absence of Russians at the ATP Final Tournament: “Well, good, they’ll rest for the first time in their lives”
The President of the Russian Tennis Federation (RFT), Shamil Tarpishchev, believes that the absence of Russians at the ATP Final Tournament will have a positive effect on the psychological state of tennis players.
In the race for the Final Tournament, for which eight tennis players are selected, Russian Andrei Rublev takes 13th place, Daniil Medvedev is in 15th place, Karen Khachanov is in 17th.
— Is it sad that there will be no Russians at the final ATP tournament? Well, good, they will rest for the first time in their lives. Can you imagine the pressure they are under? Like in a minefield. You can’t say anything to them; they are mostly abroad. These are fantastic costs and crazy loads. This is a question about psychology, how the head works,” Soviet Sport quotes Tarpishchev as saying.
The final ATP tournament will be held in Turin, Italy from November 9 to 16, 2025.
