Russian tennis player Alina Charaeva lost to Romanian Jacqueline Christian in the first round of the WTA 500 tournament in Tokyo.

The meeting ended with a score of 6:2, 6:3 in favor of the Romanian tennis player. The opponents spent 1 hour and 34 minutes on the court.

23-year-old Charaeva played her first match in the main draw of the WTA tournament this season. Earlier in August, she reached the final qualifying round for the US Open, but lost to China’s Wang Xiyu.

In the second round, Christian will play against another Russian, Ekaterina Alexandrova, who received the third seed.
