French tennis player, five-time Grand Slam doubles winner Nicolas Mahut played the last match of his professional career.

Paired with Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov, he lost to Hugo Nis (Monaco) and Edouard Roger-Vasselin (France) at a tournament in Paris – 4:6, 7:5, 4:10.

— It’s not easy to switch to something else when you’ve had a certain rhythm for 30 years. Every day I woke up and was ready for action: diet, training, sports lifestyle… I did everything I needed to win tournaments,” Ouest France quotes Mayu as saying.

43-year-old Mayu is a career Grand Slam winner in doubles, winner of two ATP Finals in doubles, and a former world No. 1 in doubles.

Mahu also took part in the longest match in the history of professional tennis. In 2010, he played American John Isner for a total of 11 hours and 5 minutes in the first round of Wimbledon 2010. Mayu lost with a score of 4:6, 6:3, 7:6 (9:7), 6:7 (3:7), 68:70. The game was postponed several times and lasted for three game days. When the score was 47:47, the scoreboard began to malfunction, since it was not programmed for such numbers.
