Indian tennis player suspended for two years for drug use

The International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) has suspended India’s Dalwinder Singh for two years for morphine use, the organization’s website said.

It is reported that the athlete’s doping test, which he passed in March 2025 during the ITF World Tennis Tour tournament in Chandigarh (India), was found to contain morphine.

Singh admitted to the agency that he had violated the rules, saying that the drug entered his body through pain medication he was prescribed after wrist surgery. However, the independent tribunal ruled that the player had failed to provide “conclusive or specific evidence” in the form of a medicine package, receipt or prescription.

Singh has been suspended from competition since October 22, 2025. His period of disqualification will end on October 21, 2027.

Xinghu is 29 years old, his current ranking in the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) is 815. In total, he has earned $15.5 thousand in prize money during his career.
