Pegula beat Paolini in two sets and reached the semi-finals of the WTA Finals
American Jessica Pegula defeated Italian Jasmine Paolini in the third match of the group round of the WTA Finals in Riyadh.
Pegula, the fifth seed, beat Paolini (8) 6-2, 6-3. The tennis players spent just over an hour on the court.
Pegula, with two wins from three matches, will be either first or second in Steffi Graf’s group. The final position of the American depends on the result of the game between Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka (1) and Cori Gauff (3) from the USA. Paolini (0-3) was last.
