(Toronto) Quebecer Félix Auger-Aliassime and Ontario’s Victoria Mboko were named players of the year, Tennis Canada announced in a press release Tuesday morning.
“Félix, who shines year after year, surpassed himself in 2025 by carving out a place in the top 5becoming only the second Canadian to achieve this feat in singles. What a pleasure to see these young athletes reach new heights! Their influence on the development of tennis in Canada is inestimable. Congratulations to Victoria and Félix, as well as all the other recipients of the Excellence Awards – Gabriela Dabrowski, Gabriel Diallo, Cleeve Harper, Nadia Lagaev, Nicolas Arseneault, Thomas Venos and Shawn Courchesne – for contributing to a truly spectacular year for Canadian tennis,” said Tennis Canada CEO Gavin Ziv in a press release.
Auger-Aliassime was therefore chosen the country’s player of the year for a fifth consecutive year.
The 25-year-old tennis player started the 2025 season strong by collecting titles in Adelaide, Australia, and Montpellier, France, two ATP 250 category events. Auger-Aliassime continued his rise at the end of the summer by reaching the quarter-finals of the Cincinnati Masters, before participating in the semi-finals of the United States Open.
Thanks to his journey which took him to the quarter-finals at the Shanghai Masters, his participation in the final at the Paris Masters and his title in Brussels, this fall, Auger-Aliassime qualified for the ATP Finals. He reached the semi-final of the prestigious end-of-season tournament and managed to break through the top 5 world, becoming the second Canadian, after Ontario’s Milos Raonic, to achieve this feat in singles. Auger-Aliassime also became the first representative of the maple leaf to have more than one season of 50 career victories.

Victoria Mboko
As for Mboko, she earned the title of player of the year for the first time in her young career. The 19-year-old started the season at 350e world ranking before stringing together 20 consecutive victories in main draws – a record for a Canadian. After winning her first WTA match at the Miami Open, Mboko qualified for the French Open and reached the third round there. She also took part in Wimbledon and the US Open, although the highlight of her season was her victory at the National Bank Open in Montreal.
Mboko was then crowned Hong Kong Open (WTA 250) champion and extended her winning streak to five matches at the Billie Jean King Cup, helping Canada secure its place at the 2026 qualifiers.
Furthermore, Quebecer Gabriel Diallo earned the title of most improved player at Tennis Canada in 2025, while Ontarian Gabriela Dabrowski earned the title of best doubles player in the country this year.
Diallo, who earned this honor for a third year in a row, won his first ATP title in ‘s-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. He also reached his first semi-final in a Masters 1000 series tournament in Madrid, Spain, after notably eliminating Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov (15e). Additionally, in August, it rose to 33e world ranking – his best ranking ever.
