Svitolina’s team beat Kostyuk’s team at the start of the World Tennis League

17 December teams VB Real Estate Falcons (“Hawks”) and Australian Mavericks Kites (“Kites”) opened the World Tennis League exhibition team tournament in Bengaluru, India, with a head-to-head match.

The Hawks won the match against the Korshuns with a total score of 25:21; One point was awarded for each game won in any match.

Ukraine’s first racket brought 14 points to the Hawks team Elina Svitolinawho beat another Ukrainian twice Martu Kostyuk – first in the doubles match (7:5), then in the singles match (7:5).

Hawks’ decisive victory was brought by Denis Shapovalov, who defeated Dhakshineswar Suresh 7:5.

AOS Eagles and Game Changers Falcons will also play in Bengaluru on the 17th.

Each team will play each other in a round-robin format. The first and second placed teams will compete for the cup in the final.

Four Ukrainian women will play doubles at the Australian Open 2026

Four Ukrainian tennis players were included in the doubles entry list Australian Open 2025.

Ukrainian women will play in the doubles tournament on the courts of Melbourne: Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya, Lyudmila Kichenok and Nadezhda Kichenok. Unfortunately, there will be no all-Ukrainian tandem in Australia.

Kostyuk will perform alongside Elena-Gabriela Ruse at the Aus Open, and Yastremskaya will play alongside Alisha Parks.

Lyudmila and Nadezhda will not play together at AO-2026, although they will start the season with the same duet in the Brisbane 500 meters. It was announced that Lyudmila will be with Katie Volynets, and Nadezhda will be with Makoto Ninomiya.

Australian Open 2026 will take place from January 12 to February 1. Elina Svitolina, Marta Kostyuk, Dayana Yastremskaya and Alexandra Oleynikova will represent Ukraine in singles. Yulia Starodubtseva, Angelina Kalinina, Daria Snigur and Vitaly Sachko will perform in the eliminations.

Khachanov moved up one place in the ATP rankings

Russian Karen Khachanov moved from 18th to 17th place in the ranking of the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP), a new version of which was published on the organization’s website.

The best among Russians remains Daniil Medvedev, located in 13th place, Andrei Rublev is 16th. There have been no changes in the top ten rankings: Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz is in the lead, Italian Jannik Sinner is second, and German representative Alexander Zverev is in third.
