Russian tennis player Rakhimova will compete under the flag of Uzbekistan
Russian tennis player Kamila Rakhimova changed her sports citizenship to Uzbek, reports the press service of the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation.
Rakhimova is ranked 112th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. The athlete has not won a single title under the auspices of the organization.
— The appearance of Kamilla Rakhimova in the national team of Uzbekistan is an event of historical proportions. She has already established herself as a strong, competitive tennis player, capable of playing on equal terms with the top players in the world. We are pleased to welcome Camilla to our team and are confident that there are bright victories, a long journey and new records ahead under the flag of Uzbekistan,” the organization’s press service quotes the General Secretary of the FTU Sardor Kamilov.
On the WTA website, Rakhimova is currently listed in neutral status, in which Russian tennis players have been participating in international competitions since 2022.
