The Tennis Federation of Uzbekistan confirmed the change of sports citizenship of Russian Polina Kudermetova
Russian Polina Kudermetova has officially changed her sports citizenship and will now represent Uzbekistan on the international stage, reports the press service of the Uzbekistan Tennis Federation.
Kudermetova is 22 years old. She is ranked 104th in the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA) rankings. Earlier it became known that the flag of Uzbekistan appeared in the Russian woman’s profile on the ITF website.
— Kudermetova’s transition has become a significant strengthening for Uzbek tennis. This is already the fifth athlete who has decided to compete under the flag of Uzbekistan. Previously, Kamilla Rakhimova, Maria Timofeeva, Alexandra Barmicheva and Laima Vladson changed their sports citizenship.
The addition of Polina Kudermetova is an important step in the development of women’s tennis in Uzbekistan and the strengthening of the national team on the eve of major international competitions,” the press release says.
Polina is the younger sister of Wimbledon champion Veronika Kudermetova and the daughter of Russian champion in Ak Bars Eduard Kudermetov.
