SVITOLINA: My husband said: “If you don’t win, I don’t know what else to tell you.”

Ukraine’s first racket Elina Svitolina After winning the WTA 250 award at the awards ceremony in Auckland, she spoke about her victory:

“After a disappointing end to last season, it feels fantastic to win another trophy. But this break has really helped me reset and come back with renewed energy and I’m delighted to have won the title here.”

It’s been a really enjoyable week for me and I’d like to thank everyone who made it special, all the sponsors, all the volunteers and everyone involved in such a great tournament and I really enjoy playing here every year.

It was a good tournament. All the players really struggled for change this week. And I want to congratulate Wang Xinyu on this wonderful week. You played really well. You also had difficult matches. It’s great to see him getting back into great shape. I wish you and your team success for the rest of the season.
