Kostyuk could not win the cup, losing to Sabalenka in the final in Brisbane
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk (WTA 26) was defeated in the final of the challenging WTA 500 tournament held in Brisbane, Australia.
In the decisive match, the Ukrainian lost to the world number one in two sets Arine Sabalenkoacting in a “neutral” status.

Marta fought her fifth match against Sabalenka and lost to the neutral for the fifth time.
Kostyuk played in the final at Tour level for the first time since April 2024. In total, this was the fourth decisive match in Marta’s career, in which she fought for the second trophy.
Sabalenka played in the Brisbane final for the third consecutive season and retained last year’s trophy.
In Brisbane, Kostyuk overtook three representatives of the top 10 of the WTA rankings: Amanda Anisimova (WTA 3), Mirra Andreeva (WTA 9) and Jessica Pegula (WTA 6). Marta also has a victory over Yulia Putintseva.
