Yastremskaya faced a new opponent in the 1st round of the WTA 500 tournament in Adelaide
Ukrainian tennis player Dayana Yastremskaya (WTA 27) The first opponent changed in the WTA 500 hard court tournament held in Adelaide, Australia.
Initially, Dayana was supposed to face Sorana Cirstei (Romania, WTA 41) in the 1/16 finals, but the Romanian withdrew from the 500 due to an ankle injury.
Kirstya was replaced by Katerina Sinyakova (Czech Republic, WTA 46), who received the status of lucky loser. Sinyakova beat Emily Chen early in qualifying [6:2, 6:0]and then lost to Elena-Gabriela Ruse [6:3, 3:6, 2:6].
The meeting between Yastremskaya and Sinyakova will take place on January 13 at around 08.30 Kyiv time. This will be the first head-to-head meeting between a Ukrainian and a Czech.
If Dayana manages to beat Katerina, she will compete with Diana Schneider or Leila Fernandez in the second round.
