Russian Pridankina reached the second round of Australian Open qualifying

Russian tennis player Elena Pridankina made it to the second round of qualifying for the Australian Open.

Pridankina beat Frenchwoman Diane Parry in two sets with a score of 6:3, 6:2. The meeting lasted 1 hour 29 minutes.

The Russian’s next opponent will be the winner of the match between Harry Dart (Great Britain) and Lanlana Tararude (Thailand).

In another match of the first round of qualifying, another representative of Russia, Polina Yatsenko, lost to Argentinean Maria Lourdes Carla – 3:6, 3:6.

The Australian Open main draw matches start on January 18.

Ukrainian tennis player Lyudmila Kichenok Doubles reached the semi-finals without a fight in the tough tournament WTA 500 in AdelaideAustralia.

In the quarter-finals, the Ukrainian player and her US partner Desiree Krawczyk had to play against the first seed. Alena Ostapenko (Latvia) and Xie Shuwei (Chinese Taipei).

However, the meeting will not be held due to Ostapenko’s withdrawal. On January 13, Alena was unable to complete her Adelaide 1/16 singles final match against Tereza Valentova due to neck/shoulder problems.

Ostapenko refused to continue against her Czech opponent with scores of 5:7 and 2:3, losing the 5:0 advantage in the first match.

French tennis player and husband of Elina Svitolina Gael Monfils (ATP 110) performance at the ATP 250 challenging tournament held in Auckland, New Zealand.

The French lost in three sets in the first round Fabian Marozan (Hungary, ATP 52) 2 hours 2 minutes.

Fabian Marozan (Hungary) – Gael Monfils (France) – 5:7, 6:3, 6:4

Monfils played head to head with Marozan for the fourth time and lost to the Hungarian for the second time.

Gael failed to defend last year’s trophy on Auckland courts. The 39-year-old Frenchman is in the last season of his career.

Marozan will face second place Kasper Ruud in the second round of the competition.
