1097th in the world. US Open 2017 champion advanced to Australian Open 2026

32-year-old American tennis player Sloane StephensRanking 1097th in the WTA rankings, the national team qualified to participate in the 2026 Australian Open main draw.

The experienced American, who was the US Open champion in 2017, defeated Barbora Palicova (Czech Republic, WTA 230), Olivia Hadeki (Australia, WTA 171) and Lucia Bronzetti (Italy, WTA 106) to qualify for the Australian Major.

In March 2025, Sloan suffered a foot injury and did not compete on Tour until September, then lost three matches in a row before starting the Australian Open qualifiers.

Stevens played in a Grand Slam qualifier for the first time since 2011. He later failed to qualify for the main draw at Wimbledon.

In the 1/64 final of the Australian Open, Stevens will play against Karolina Pliskova (Czech Republic, WTA 1052), who has not played at the professional level since October last year.

Sloane will play in the Australian Open main draw for the 14th time in his career. Its best result was the semi-final in 2013.
