The Czech player, ranked 32nd, withdrew an hour before the opening match; In the 1/64 final, Marketa was supposed to play with Haley Baptiste (USA, WTA 66).

“I am very sorry to have to withdraw from the Australian Open due to ongoing shoulder problems. Although this decision was not easy for me, after everything I have been through, I have to put my health first. Thank you all for your understanding and support.”

In place of Vondrousova, Taylor Townsend will play against Baptiste, who receives lucky loser status.
